Chocolate overnight oats
Overnight oats are oats you prepare the night before: 5 minutes of work, a night in the fridge, and by morning they are creamy and taste of chocolate and banana. No cooking at all.

Before you start
- Make them the night before: they need at least 4 hours in the fridge.
- Make room in the fridge for the jar.
Step by step
-
Step 1: Dissolve the protein
Put the milk and protein (and cocoa, if using) in a shaker or a jar with a lid. Shake for 15-20 seconds.
It’s right if… A smooth chocolate liquid, with no powder floating on top.
If it goes wrong… If there are lumps, leave it for 1 minute and shake again.
-
Step 2: Mash the banana
In the jar you will store them in, mash the banana with a fork until smooth.
-
Step 3: Mix everything
Add the oats, the chia if using, the yogurt and the protein milk. Stir well with a spoon, right to the bottom.
It’s right if… It looks very runny: that is normal. The oats will soak up the milk in the fridge.
-
Step 4: Leave in the fridge
Close the jar and put it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight.
-
Step 5: Stir and serve
In the morning, stir and top with sliced banana and peanut butter if you like. They are eaten cold; if you prefer them warm, microwave for 30-60 seconds.
It’s right if… Thick and creamy, with tender oats.
How to tell it’s going well
- When mixed: quite runny.
- After the fridge: thick and creamy, a spoon stands up for a moment.
- The oats are soft, not hard or crunchy.
If this happens…
- Too runny
- Leave them in the fridge for 1-2 more hours. Next time, add the 6 g of chia.
- Too thick
- Stir in 2-3 tablespoons (30-45 ml) of milk in the morning.
- Lumps of protein
- Always dissolve the protein in the milk before adding it to the oats.
How to store it
- In the fridge, in the sealed jar, for up to 3 days. You can make several jars at once.
- Add the sliced banana just before eating so it does not go brown.
- Not suitable for freezing: the yogurt changes texture.
