Before you start

  • If the peanut butter is stiff or the oil has separated, stir it well in the jar.
  • Make room in the fridge for the container.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Mix everything

Put the peanut butter, protein, oats, flaxseed, chips, honey and chia in the bowl. Mix with the spatula and, when it gets hard going, finish with your hands.

It’s right if… A dough that sticks to itself, not to the bowl.

  2. Step 2: Check the texture

Squeeze a little dough in your hand.

It’s right if… If it holds its shape without cracking or sticking to your fingers, it is ready.

If it goes wrong… If it crumbles, add water a teaspoon (5 ml) at a time. If it is very sticky, add 1-2 teaspoons of oats. After adjusting, wait 2 minutes: the oats and protein absorb moisture.

  3. Step 3: Shape the balls

Take a tablespoon of dough (about 23 g) and roll it between your palms. You get 16 balls.

It’s right if… Smooth balls, the size of a large walnut.

If it goes wrong… If it sticks to your hands, wet them slightly.

  4. Step 4: Coat them (optional)

Put the coconut on a plate and roll each ball until covered.

  5. Step 5: Keep them in the fridge

You can eat them straight away. In the fridge they firm up and are easier to handle.

How to tell it’s going well

  • Dough: holds together when squeezed and does not stick to your fingers.
  • Shaped: smooth, no cracks.
  • After the fridge: firm outside, soft inside.

If this happens…

The dough is dry and cracks
Water a teaspoon (5 ml) at a time, mixing in between.
The dough sticks to your hands
1-2 more teaspoons of oats, or 15 minutes in the fridge before shaping.
They flatten
Keep them in the fridge: the cold keeps them firm.

How to store it

  • In the fridge, in a sealed container, for up to 2 weeks.
  • They freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge.
